This is exactly how I like to camp, to get away from it all and everyone. I like to feel like this is my special place and it's meant for only me at this moment. It's so much more enjoyable when you don't feel like you're "working", which is always how I feel when I'm camping or hiking and see someone being irresponsible. Back then our dispersed camping consisted of a lot of little pull offs along forest service roads. Not all the sites were pretty! The great thing about where you are is the off season!! You can be in a campground and still be relatively alone. Yes, come on down to the desert! YOu'll love it.
