Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?

I went to a baby shower last week for a friend of mine (and fellow outsidemom). She’s currently the mother of two very active and adventurous little boys and is now expecting a girl. Girls can seem somewhat daunting to the average outside mother, I mean, wonder if your daughter turns out to be incredibly, you know, girly? When I saw this book I knew immediately it was the perfect baby shower gift.

This is too funny. Eva loves outdoor adventuring – but she is “a princess” – and she has decided that even with a comparative lack of princess gear in our home. Makes me laugh… except when I have to get her to put on real shoes to go out. Or pants…. but that is another issue. I am definitely getting this book.

    • Beck – Reading that I thought, wow, Eva sounds like her mother. My thought process: We were living in Escalante, hiking, working, camping, playing and hauling our collecting gear all over the desert on our backs for days at a time… Then, what seemed like out of the blue to me, you make this BEAUTIFUL blue dress and get all dolled up for the opera…

My daughter is heading off to Philmont scout Ranch with her Daddy this Summer. (Well, he went with the brothers first…) We are sitting here finding the girly hiking stuff (and appropriate foundational garments because princesses have pretty little curves sometimes.)
We found this book via your site by googling, “Princess and hiking gear.”
We are so buying this book…and we are so adding your blog to our read list.
